Representing Leonardo da Vinci's betrothal portrait of the forlorn 16 year old Florentine beauty and intellect, 'Ginevra de Benci', who, in 1474 was whispered to be a deeply reluctant bride. The inscription Iuniperus, meaning a juniper sprig, (an old symbol of sorrow and pain), and Virtvtem Forma Decorat - 'Beauty Adorns Virtue', are painted on the reverse of the portrait board.
